Stand-up paddling is clearly the booming new water sport. It is not surprising that the SUP boards are also struggling for optimal gliding properties and speed and that the developers of the various brands are preparing for upcoming racing events. 

In the summer of 2015 an event was launched with the SUP-Tour-Schweiz, which stopped at 9 different lakes in all regions of Switzerland for three months. While many professionals started with slim, ultra-light carbon boards, there was also an increasing number of athletes who compete against the competition in the inflatable SUP category. 

In this category, a surprising development by Zug-based fun-care AG. The Airboard Rocket initially caused a few laughs and head shakes with its dolphin-like beak, because new things are also received rather critically in the paddle scene. In the course of the SUP tour, however, one podium after the other spoke its own language. What was initially dismissed by some people as a marketing gag has only been defeated since then.

Nevertheless, the Zuger fun-care AG used the winter months to Rocket 2018 to make it even faster. So it was provided with a double carbon stringer to achieve even greater rigidity. It is now interesting to see whether this will be enough to cross the finish line with the famous nose in front of the competition this year as well.
