About Airboard
Airboard® is the registered trademark for a winter sports device developed by the Swiss Joe Steiner in the 1990s. Made from high-quality plastic-coated textiles, a lightweight and extremely durable snow glider was created, which is also referred to as a bodyboard for the snow. In 2010, Airboard® expanded its offerings with inflatable SUPs (Stand-Up Paddles).

Since 2001, Fun-Care has produced and sold over 150,000 bodyboards worldwide, with about 30,000 sold in Switzerland. The steadily growing number of "Airboarders" is looking for attractive slopes, which a winter sports area with a new Airboard offering clearly feels. However, it is not only the increasing revenues in rental or the sale of day tickets to Airboarders that are exciting, but also the low accident rates that may surprise some. Even the SKUS (Swiss Commission for Accident Prevention in Snow Sports) rates Airboard as less dangerous than conventional sleds. This statement is clearly underscored by the statistics of the providers. It makes sense in times when the growth numbers of skiers and snowboarders are stagnating, to make room for a new sport and customers, rather than chasing each other's existing winter sports enthusiasts.
In this context, the short learning phase in Airboarding is also very interesting. The sense of success is already evident to beginners in the first hour, and the dynamics of this sport ensure that people for whom skiing and snowboarding were not an option due to the long and costly learning phase suddenly discover an affordable winter sport.

History
2001: After a 10-year development phase, Fun-Care AG presents the Airboard® brand and thus a new winter sport. Behind the brand is not only a sports device, but an entire concept, including clothing and accessories.
2002: Fun-Care AG is nominated as a finalist for the Brand New Award and wins a stand at the ispo in Munich.
2004: Fun-Care AG is nominated at the Swiss Economic Forum for the most significant young entrepreneur award in Switzerland.
2006: Airboard® Classic130 is nominated for the US BOWN (Best Of What’s New). Airboard Classic130 is one of the top 100 products of the year.
2008: Airboard® Classic130-x is nominated for the Volvo Eco Design Award. This nomination was due to the excellent quality and the ecological aspect, which is anchored in the company's philosophy. Airboards are 100% recycled after their lifecycle and turned into fashionable bags.
2009: Airboard® products are distributed in 20 countries worldwide, and the sport finds new enthusiasts everywhere.
2010: Airboard® presents its SUP designs at the Paddle Expo in Nuremberg, which clearly stand out from the competition's products due to their better strength and performance.
2011: Further expansion of the product range, as well as distribution and territorial channels worldwide.
2014: Airboard® launches the ATA - a race where Snowbodyboard teams can compete against each other.
2015: Distribution of Snowbodyboards expands to China.
2016: Airboard® presents the ROCKET, the fastest inflatable SUP. The dolphin-like nose simulates a displacement hull. The shape was unusual and divided opinions, yet in the racing scene, the Rocket was well received.
2019: Airboard® surprises the SUP industry once again. The ULTRALIGHT SUP concept is a clever interplay of lightweight high-tech materials and multifunctional accessories. The SUP can be folded to 50% smaller and lighter packing size through cleverly designed deckpad. The bag serves as a volume pump and also as a dry bag to bring carried items dry over the water. Extremely innovative is also an optionally available and patented pump paddle, with which high pressure can be pumped into the SUP boards effortlessly. The extraordinary innovative power of the Airboard team is confirmed multiple times by international juries and awards.
2021: Airboard® celebrates its 20th anniversary. Much has been developed in this time span, and the Airboard history has been further embellished - the brand convinces with innovations that have been brought to the market in recent years. We look back with pride.
